Before We Write a Single Line of Code, We Need to Know Exactly What to Build

The most expensive mistake in software isn't writing bad code. It's writing the right code for the wrong problem. Consulting exists so that doesn't happen to you.

The process

How a Discovery session works

This isn't a sales call. It's an honest technical conversation where the goal is to understand your business well enough to propose the right solution.

01

Discovery session

A 5–8 minute conversation where you tell me what your business needs, which problems you want to solve, and what results you expect. No endless forms.

02

Technical analysis

I review your current systems, your functional and non-functional requirements, and any integrations you'll need. Then I propose the architecture that fits your specific case.

03

Detailed proposal

A technical spec with exact scope, chosen technologies, delivery milestones, and a real quote. No vague ranges, no budgets that double later.

04

Informed decision

With everything laid out, you decide whether we move forward. If the budget isn't there yet, I'll tell you honestly how to get there. No pressure, no selling you things you don't need.

Why this matters

What separates good consulting from a sales pitch in disguise

No unnecessary jargon

I explain your options in business terms, not code. What to expect, when, how much, and why. So the decision is yours, not something you take on faith because I said so.

Complete requirements gathering

The most expensive problems in development come from poorly defined requirements. Discovery exists to remove ambiguity before it gets costly to fix.

Honest alternatives, not just the priciest one

Sometimes what you need isn't a six-month custom build. If there's a simpler, more effective solution, I'll tell you, even if it means less work for me.

A real quote, not a five-figure range

“Somewhere between $5,000 and $50,000” isn't a quote. It's a way of not committing. After Discovery, the number I give you is the real number for the project.

Who it's for

A Discovery session makes sense if…

  • You have a clear picture of the problem but not the technical solution
  • You've already been burned by a project that cost more than it was quoted
  • You need to validate that your project is feasible before investing in development
  • Your company needs to modernize legacy systems with controlled risk
  • You want to add AI or automation but don't know where to start
  • You need a technical proposal to present to executives or investors
Free Discovery

No cost, no strings attached

The Discovery session is free because I believe it should be. If we don't move forward afterward, you still walk away knowing what your project needs. That alone has value. I'm based in Chile and work on US time zones, so we can talk during your business hours.

Frequently asked questions

What everyone asks before booking

Is the Discovery session really free?

Yes, completely free and with no obligation to hire me. The session takes 5 to 8 minutes, and by the end you'll know what your project needs, in what order to tackle it, and roughly what it would cost. If you decide not to move forward, you keep that information anyway.

What exactly happens in a Discovery session?

You tell me about your business, the problem you want to solve, or the idea you want to build. I ask the relevant technical questions: who the users are, which integrations you need, what you already have in place. At the end, I give you a clear assessment: which technology makes sense, what the risks are, estimated timelines, and an investment range.

Why would I need consulting if I already know what I want?

Knowing what you want and knowing how to build it well are two different things. Technical consulting prevents the most expensive mistakes: picking the wrong technology, underestimating scope, building something that doesn't scale, or hiring someone who can't deliver. An hour of consulting can save you months of rework.

Can I hire you for consulting only, without development?

Yes. If you already have an in-house development team or you're evaluating options, I can act as an external technical consultant: reviewing architectures, auditing existing code, evaluating vendor proposals, or advising on technology decisions. Scope and quote are defined after the initial session.

How do I know if my idea is technically feasible?

That's exactly what the Discovery session is for. In many cases the idea is feasible but the scope is sized wrong. In others, there's a simpler solution that costs half as much. Consulting turns technical uncertainty into clarity you can act on.
